Do this on Site Plan and ELD(s):
- Call out make and model for all Disconnects.
- TPW cannot be stacked, need to be at least 5' away from windows/doors
- ESS to be placed near MSP to reduce conduit runs
- ESS disconnect to be within 5' of battery
- Heat detector interconnected with smoke detectors in residence required for ESS installed inside of home/garage.
Add note: "The ESS circuit breaker shall be secured by an additional fastener per section 408.36(D)."
- Separate ESS Disconnect Required
- Local Disconnect

Standard Jobs
- Module spec sheets must show UL 61730 listing
- Provide spec sheets for all electrical equipment to be installed including MPUs, sub panels, and main breaker enclosures.
- Provide manufacturers documentation to clarify system components are listed according to the UL standards to which they apply: UL 2703 for grounding/bonding of rails, mounts, clamps, ground lugs, etc.
Historic District:
- AHJ stated the panel can not be in front of house, if the home is in historic district. (See https://www.phoenix.gov/pddsite/Documents/HP/pdd_hp_pdf_00133.pdf for more information)
- Please use the following link to determine if property is in historic district. Use the Layer list to Identify historic property areas: https://phoenix.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=13428321a9f84e95a634be1beab5fe96
- If we have no options with the layout please provide a letter justifying the layout. The letter must clearly demonstrate the loss of efficiency and savings if the panels are moved to another location or removed entirely.
- Site
- Disconnect for line-side taps must be located within 10 feet of the service connection point.
- Site Notes
- Roof Plan
- If home is in historic district, no modules will be allowed on the front of main residence.
- Electrical Diagram
All Jobs:
- Main breaker must be rated 22k or higher. Only panels not able to account for this is a Square D HOM or Zincso, if this panel is existing and existing main is only rated for 10K, we will need to perform a MPU to a panel that is 22k rated at Construction Review stage (A ConnectDER can also satisfy this requirement). All other panel brands, we will be able to source a 22k rated breaker.
- Provide minimum conductor length on the electrical diagram. (See document below named "City of Phoenix - minimum conductor length" for reference) Information is conditional on size of wire, and utility.
- If PV back feed is over 60A, then use a fused disconnect with Class J fuses. This will satisfy the minimum conductor length requirement. Include a note "Fused disconnect with Class J fuses to limit AFC to less than 10000"
- PV breaker shall be either 22K AIC fully rated or a listed series, unless Fused disconnect with Class J fuses is used
- If you are derating, derated breaker shall be either 22K AIC fully rated or a listed series, note must be present on line diagram
- If using a lineside tap, the OCPD must be within 10ft of the service connection point. Notate the distance to OCPD from main service.
- LST require a bonding jumper at the fused disconnect
- LST: notate the following: DISCONNECT FOR THE LINE-LIDE TAP MUST BE LOCATED WITHIN 10 FEET OF THE SERVICE CONNECTION POINT.
For Load Centers/Sub Panels
- Any panels with conductors rated 100A or more, Panel will need a 22k rated main breaker, and all branch breakers need to be listed series rated
- Provide a panel schedule for any relocated loads
- Under 100A, install 22k rated breakers in the load center/sub
- Load center breakers to either be 22K fully rated or series rate 22/10 with a 22K rated panel MCB, unless conductor length to limit AFC is provided.
FOR LOAD CONTROLLERS
- On the permit plan set, remove the load controller from the plans completely (TLD and layout). We are doing this on all City of Phoenix jobs, as they are very difficult to work with when it comes to the load controllers. The LC will still be installed, just won't be shown on the plans.
- On the utility copy of plans, show the Load Controller
- ADD NOTES TO TLD: MINIMUM CONDUCTOR LENGTH TO BE #' FROM AC DISCONNECT TO PV BREAKER PER ARTICLE 110.9 & 110. (VARIES - Verify footage on fault current document below) CANNOT USE "~" SYMBOL WHEN REFERENCING CONDUCTOR LENGTH
ESS:
- Always provide panel schedule
- Include the following note: The ESS circuit breaker shall be secured by an additional fastener per section 408.36(D).
MPUs:
- Provide spec sheet for main panel. The part number must be listed on the line diagram that matches the spec sheet. Load Calcs needed
Existing Systems:
- New system must be separate from existing system
Feed Thru Lugs
- Provide an actual make/model for the kit
Derates
- Derates require a panel schedule

All Jobs [Where raceways or cables are exposed to direct sunlight on or above rooftops, raceways or cables shall be installed a minimum distance above the roof to the bottom of the raceway or cable of 23 mm (7⁄8 in.). Where the distance above the roof to the bottom of the raceway is less than 23 mm (7⁄8 in.), a temperature adder of 33°C (60°F) shall be added to the outdoor temperature to determine the applicable ambient temperature for application of the correction factors in Table 310.15(B)(2)(a) or Table 310.15(B)(2)(b) // PV BACK-FED BREAKERS SHALL BE EITHER 22K AIC FULLY RATED OR A LISTED SERIES RATED BREAKER WITH THE MAIN OCP FOR 22/10K FOR 200 AMPS THROUGH 400AMPS, SINGLE PHASE, 240 VOLTS. 2017 NEC ARTICLE 110.9, AND ARTICLE 240.86(B). // ALL EQUIPMENT TERMINATIONS SHALL BE RATED MINIMUM 75 DEGREE C. 2017 NEC ARTICLE 110.24(C) // ALL CONDUCTORS NOT UNDER ARRAY ARE TO BE IN CONDUIT MINUMUMM 7/8 " ABOVE ROOF WITH PROPERJ-BOXES AT EACH END PER 690.31a] Derates [Derated breaker shall be either 22K AIC fully rated or a listed series]
