There is an inspector at this AHJ that is critical of fire access points and will fail us if we don't draw the access points accurately or if we cut into them at install. Please make sure R324.6.1 is followed accurately and the two fire access points (front; driveway side and back of home)are drawn accurately. If more than 33% of the roof is covered all 3' fire access points must be maintained per code.

- ESS Notes
- ESS is required to have dedicated means of disconnect located within 5' of the system
- Provide a mounting detail, the manufacturer’s installation details will suffice.
- Provide a specification sheet for the energy storage systems (ESS) that shows that it is listed in accordance with UL 9540A.
- IMO Disconnects are not allowed to be used as ESS Disconnects.
- Must be placed at least 3 feet from doorways and windows entering the dwelling and must also be placed 3 feet from the property line.
- Cannot be placed onto the shared walls of other properties.
IF ESS IS TO BE LOCATED IN A GARAGE
- Provide a floor plan of the garage and illustrating compliance with protection from impact. CRC R328.8 and Figure R328.1
Specify if the ESS is to be wall or floor mounted.
NOTE: BATTERY TO BE FLOOR MOUNTED
NOTE: BATTERY TO BE WALL MOUNTED

Plan set
- Plan Set Requirements
- All racking and related product spec sheets must show compliance with UL 2703
- Provide the fire rating for the racking system on the plans or specifications. A class “A” assembly is required.
- For GMAs: Include GMA specifications with plans
ENPHASE PROJECTS UTILIZING PCS
- Include a datasheet in the plans for the combiner panel being used
- Include a datasheet indicating that the Enphase system can be utilized as a power control system (see files section)
EV CHARGERS
- If Ev charger is being installed, we will need to create a separate planset where we will need to remove all PV/ESS details. AHJ requires a separate permit for the EV charger.
MAKE SURE PROPERTY LINE MATCHES ----> GIS

Battery - Provide a complete scope of work that includes the battery backup.
- Site Notes
Battery [Energy Storage System AC disconnects are required to be labeled as such and are required to be readily accessible and within sight and within 5’ of the ESS units they serve. AC disconnects are required to be lockable in the open position. // ESS shall be installed no closer than 3' from the doors and windows that open into the dwelling]
- Roof Plan
Show rafters and attachments on roof as will appear on site
- Attachment Detail
- Lag bolts attaching the racking system to the roof (when applicable to the system) must have their size listed.
- Provide the total weight of the PV array to confirm that it is below 4PSF.

- Electrical Diagram Notes
Battery [Producer's storage device(s) will not cause the Host Load to exceed its normal peak demand. Normal peak demand is defined as the highest amount of power required from the Distribution System by Producer's complete facilities without the influence or use of the energy storage device(s).]
- Label Page
All jobs
- Provide label on inverter per CEC 690.5 (C) (WARNING ELECTRIC SHOCK HAZARD IF A GROUND FAULT IS INDICATED, NORMALLY GROUNDED CONDUCTORS MAY BE UNDERGROUNDED AND ENERGIZED).
- Provide label on DC disconnect (if applicable) per CEC 690.17 (E) (WARNNG ELECTRIC SHOCK HAZARD DO NOT TOUCH TERMINALS TERMINALS ON BOTH LINE AND LOAD SIDES MAY BE ENERGIZED IN THE OPEN POSITIONS).
- A load side interconnection requires the following label at the backfeed breaker: "Warning: this equipment fed by multiple sources - total rating of all overcurrent devices, excluding main supply overcurrent device should not exceed ampacity of busbar” _
BATTERY PROJECTS
- Confirm that the required multiple power sources warning labeling is appropriate. If there are three power sources (PG&E grid, PV system, battery) then provide the tripower source label. Example uploaded to files below.
