ALL PROJECTS: Fill out the Structural Engineering Checklist uploaded below. If all boxes can be marked yes , then no structural engineering is required. If any boxes are marked no , we will need structural PE stamped plans and calcs for the project.
Provide the span tables from the manufacturer for the racking/attachment system
EXISTING SYSTEMS: On the site placard page, a detailed plan view diagram of the roof shall be provided showing each different PV system and a dotted line around areas that remain energized after the rapid shutdown switch is operated. Clarify which kind of rapid shut (RSD) the existing system has. One: No RSD. Two: A different type of RSD as the new system. Three: The same type of RSD as the new system. Types one and two require a dotted line around the existing array.
Site placard requirements for existing systems: Buildings with More Than One Rapid Shutdown Type: For buildings that have PV systems with both rapid shutdown types or a PV system with a rapid shutdown type and a PV system with no rapid shutdown, a detailed plan view diagram of the roof shall be provided showing each different PV system and a dotted line around areas that remain energized after the rapid shutdown switch is operated. The Directory Placard is required to comply with CEC 690.56(C)(2) whenever two different PV systems are installed. Please clarify which kind of rapid shut (RSD) the existing system has. One: No RSD. Two: A different type of RSD as the new system. Three: The same type of RSD as the new system. Types one and two require a dotted line around the existing array.
- Cover Page
ALL JOBS:
Indicate the following on the cover sheet:
- Building type of construction (usually VB)
- Indicate the building height above grade plane/number of stories
- Occupancy group(s) of the structure where panels will be installed (R3 for residential homes & U for utility/misc structures)
- Please indicate (yes or no) if this structure is equipped or will be equipped with an automatic fire sprinkler system
EXISTING SYSTEMS
- Notate the complete kWdc rating for the existing and new systems on the cover sheet
- List the square footage and roof coverage percentage of both arrays combined.
- Roof Plan Notes
All Jobs [THE POINT OF ACCESS FOR FIRE SET BACK PATHWAYS WILL NOT BE OVER ANY DOORS, WINDOWS, OR OTHER OBSTRUCTIONS]
- Attachment Detail
If the distance from roof ridge to modules is less than 3 feet, the maximum penetration spacing is 64”
- Electrical Diagram
Centerfed 120% allowed ALL JOBS The PV breaker shall be located at the opposite end of the busbar from the primary power source The AC disconnect will need a note stating it is suitable for use as service equipment. Please show/note the AIC rating for the main breaker and solar breaker shall have an equal or greater AIC ratings than the existing breakers. CEC 690.13(E). Or by other means of showing the PV system is rated for the available fault current. RELOCATING LOADS Panel schedule and load calcs are required. Also AFCI breakers are required if extended or moved more than 6’ (Conductor Length) from MSP per 210.12 (D) of the CEC. MPU Add the following note: "The wire size and type of the service feeding conductor for the main service panel shall be determined by the utility provider.” Add the following note: "Grounding electrode conductor shall be sized per CEC 250.66.” EXISTING SYSTEMS: Notate if the existing system is RSD compliant or not.
