Engineer letter must list 2021 IRC
Wind Speed in the Engineer Letter to include 3 Second Gusts.
The engineer’s general summary report (Engineer Letter) must state verbatim "The existing structure is adequate for the additional solar panel load and no reinforcement is needed
The engineer's calculation letter & calcs must include calculations for all roof surfaces with new PV modules
Please ensure plans, Engineer letter & calculations report reflect all items on the attached Arapahoe County Checklist in the files section below.
This is a long list, please ensure both CE and PE follow the items on the checklist
Add Arapahoe County Checklist to notes to vendor on stamping task
- Minimum Ground On Roof

- ESS Notes
1\. The mounting detail for the battery needs an engineer's stamp; this page in the plans is labeled "Roof Plan w/ Modules Layout". 2\. Provide installation instructions for the battery in the plans. 3\. Provide installation instructions for the back-up load center in the plans. 4. Clarify the location of interconnection for the back-up load center. 5\. Please include the location, required fire detection, and any required protection from impact, where applicable, on the plan set
For SolarEdge Energy Bank Backup Systems, Please include On and Off Grid Inverter Note on ELD. As well as a 100A Disco for the 63A Chint Breaker in the Backup Interface.
- Separate ESS Disconnect Required
- Gateway Disconnect
- ESS Elevation Detail Required
- Yes - with dimensions
Plan set
- Plan Set Requirements
All references to AC ratings throughout the plans must show actual calculations, not maximum inverter or other equipment ratings. Arapahoe County has accepted the System Size boxes throughout the plans to show the calculated AC size of DC kW x the Maximum Inverter Efficiency; and include the following calculations: PV SYSTEM (AC): x.xxx kW @ 240V (x.xxx kW DC x 99.2% INV. EFF). Please see attached AC System Size Example screenshot for reference. Edit title block manually to accommodate this request.
Please ensure plans, Engineer Letter & Structural calcs fully adhere to the attached Arapahoe County PV Checklist, as plan reviews are taking 12-16 weeks to complete.
- Site
All jobs (not just GM) show distance to property lines
- Site Notes
All Jobs [Aerial view (site plan) must include dimensions of all roof surfaces, modules and fire walk paths.]
- Roof Plan
The aerial view includes dimensions of all roof surfaces to have PV modules installed on, and includes all dimensions and locations of all roof PV modules
Provide dimensions showing the installers where arrays start and stop with detailed measurements from roof edges including ridges, gables, eaves and hips/valleys.
- Electrical Diagram
* For projects with production meters, please use min #6 AWG THWN-2 from inverter to POI. * For projects without PM, wire may be sized to inverter requirements (no longer #6 min). * One line diagram must state the PV breaker location; Example: PV breaker located at opposite end of main breaker in main service panel. * Please include only one SLD page for plan-sets to avoid inspection confusion in field. * When upsizing the ungrounded conductors above the minimum ampacity required, the EGC must be upsized by the same proportion. **Taps** * **Cannot tap in MSP, must use separate enclosure** * For line/load side tap provide MSP manufacturer’s information and UL listing documentation pertaining to the line/load side service taps being permitted/allowed within the existing electrical enclosure & provide information on the method used for a line/load side tap inside the enclosure on plan sheet. The AHJ basically wants to see documentation from the load center manufacturer (also providing UL listings) stating that taps are allowed inside their load centers; it may be simpler to avoid using taps within this AHJ. **Batteries** * For battery systems, please provide complete SolarEdge wiring instructions that include connections to autotransformer & inverter.
*For Existing Systems/Equipment: Please indicate the wire size.
*For SolarEdge Energy Bank Backup Systems, please include On and Off Grid Inverter Note on ELD. As well as a 100A Disco for the 63A Chint Breaker in the Backup Interface.
- Electrical Diagram Notes
- One line diagram must state the PV breaker location ; Example: PV breaker located at opposite end of main breaker in main service panel.
- Electrical plans include the path of the raceways or cables, e.g., through the attic, on the roof, underground.
- All conductors are identified as DC or AC conductors on line diagrams
- All conductor material (copper) must be called out on line diagram
- Load calcs must use county assessor sq ft for lighting load
