2015 IRC/IBC needs 3' fire setbacks

A 36โ€™โ€™ fire access is required on both sides of a solar array on each individual roof plane. A 36โ€™โ€™ fire access pathway is

required on both sides of the roof ridge. An 18โ€™โ€™ fire access pathway is required on each side of all hip and valleys.

There shall not be any doorways or windows directly under the fire access pathways

  • Provide photos of all sides of the house on the plans. Photos must be large enough for the reviewer to see details of the home. (see "Aurora Elevation Example.pdf" in the files)
  • Highlight which model of equipment we are using on the spec/cutsheets (see "AURORA EXAMPLE PLANSET.pdf" in the files)
  • EXISTING SYSTEMS: provide spec sheets for existing inverter with model highlighted.
  • SPEC SHEETS: Mark on the spec sheets the equipment that is being used per plans. Example: Ticket #2793452 (Plan Detail)
Roof Plan

For multiple story homes - Provide an elevation or photo of all sides of the house where the array will be installed to verify there will be no windows or doors within the 3 foot fire access points
