SLD Reqs

A Net Metering Facility shall be capable of Parallel Operation and safely commencing the delivery of power into CWL’s system at a single point of interconnection.

Electric Service Reqs

The Net Metering Facility, at the Net Metering Customer’s expense, shall meet safety and performance standards established by local and national electrical codes including the National Electrical Code (NEC), the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC), and Underwriters Laboratories (UL), and, at CWL’s discretion, may require periodic inspections by the Net Metering Customer’s professional installer or other knowledgeable source acceptable to CWL and proof of such inspections to CWL.

Commissioning Test Notes:

1) A visual inspection shall be made to ensure that the grounding scheme of the Net Metering Facility shall not cause over voltages that exceed the rating of the equipment connected, nor disrupt the coordination of the ground fault protection to CWL’s distribution system. The visual inspection must confirm the presence of the required lockable, manual disconnect switch accessible by CWL and that it is clearly labeled.

2) A performance test shall be performed on the installed Net Metering Facility and system equipment prior to the initial Parallel Operation. The test will include an operability test on the isolation device mentioned in Rule 3.01.2 and other tests as deemed necessary by CWL in its sole discretion.

Install Reqs
  1. 24/7 accessible, lockable AC Disconnect must be installed.
  2. The inverter equipment must incorporate an automatic switching scheme as described in IEEE 1547 and NEC Chapter 6 that senses when a loss of power from CWL has occurred and immediately disconnects the Net Metering Facility from CWL’s electric distribution system;
  3. The inverter must be warranted by the manufacturer to shut down or disconnect upon loss of utility service; and
  4. The inverter must be properly installed and operated in accordance with manufacturer’s recommendations and
  5. The inverter shall be inspected or tested by CWL personnel.
Placards
  1. AC Disconnect must be clearly labeled

Compiled from public records, 2026. Tariffs and interconnection rules change; verify with City Water & Light Jonesboro before you rely on this. The useful move: if an installer says you need a main panel upgrade, ask how these tap and interconnection policies were considered first.
