All kWh exported to the utility grid is paid at the RCP rate, currently $0.0868. The RCP rate is usually adjusted annually. Customers are compensated for up to 10 years at the RCP export rate in place at the time they requested interconnection. Export credits are applied to the customers amount due each month. Credits remaining at the end of each month are carried forward to the following month.

- See "TEP LST Simple Diagram" in the Files section of this page.
- The LST must be in a dedicated junction box outside of the main panel
- Tap Connectors must be MILBANK K4977-INT.
- Meter Socket must be Milbank, U4518-XL-W
- Fused disconnect neutral must be bonded to ground via bonding jumper or bonding screw for line side tap
- Label conduit with "DG Tap Conductors"
- A neutral must be run from revenue meter socket to DG Meter socket and terminated on the neutral bus for DG systems that may not require a neutral to operate.
Meter Adapters
- RINGLESS meters are not allowed with Unisource/ TEP, per SR-452 (TOP Rejection Make sure this is followed)
- Utilize ConnectDER block for meter adapter
- Include ConnectDER model number to SLD. Model number details are needed for initial application submission.
- Meter socket # must be one of the following: C-B-4-22-40, C-B-4-22-60, C-B-4-22-80
- No additional N-G Bonding is required. Please remove the N-G bond inside the Utility Disconnect
- MPU Rules
Hot bus panels require MPU.

For systems larger than 20kW AC, TEP requires a pre-meter set inspection prior to authorizing the meter set. For residential customers, TEP will try to coordinate the inspection with the installer as to avoid interfering with the homeowner’s routine. For residential customers, TEP is willing to do the inspection “remotely” via Skype whereby the installer goes to the site and transmits video back to TEP.

All Jobs
- Please utilize TEP checklist when building in this utility
- AC disconnect and DG Meter required (Post PV) to be within 10' of the utility meter on the same side of gate/fence as the MSP-(TOP Rejection Make sure this is followed)
- All fences/gates and covered areas such as breezeways, carports, patios or porches must be called out on the Site Plan.
- BOS must be on an uncovered and unenclosed wall.
- BOS not preferred under covered areas such as breezeways, carports, patios or porches. (Especially for overhead service entrances). However TEP prefers equipment within 10 ft of utility meter, so equipment may be under patios in such cases. NOTE: If this location is the only feasible location for the DG equipment, please provide additional information and photos. Additional photos of the proposed DG equipment location and main service panel are required. The additional photos should clearly show the entire wall and any possible obstructions and photos of the main service panel location and its surrounding area.
- TEP allows only on DG meter per system. Split AC coupled systems are not allowed
Existing Systems
- For existing systems, show all equipment (new and existing) and label with the manufacturer, model, and quantity.
- Call out existing, new and combined system sizes. (Applies to all projects. EnFin prefers separate systems, but TEP requires them to be combined.)
- Only one DG meter allowed per address. Both new and existing systems must be tied together into one Utility DG Meter and one Utility DG Disconnect.
Non-Site Built Homes (including Mobile Home)
- DG disconnect and DG meter are not allowed to be placed on a mobile home or other non-site built homes. Use H-frame
EV Chargers
- TEP does not allow inverter integrated EV chargers. EV charging must be separate from the inverter.
Battery
- In addition to the AD Disconnect and PV required post PV, and additional AC disconnect is required post gateway, labeled as "Utility Isolation Disconnect Easton [Enter model number]
- SLD Reqs
All Jobs
- EV Charger Inverter is not allowed
- TEP allows only one DG meter per system. Split AC-coupled systems are not allowed.
- Label AC Disconnect as "Utility DG Disconnect Eaton [Enter model number]"
- Label DG meter as "Utility DG Meter Milbank [Enter model number]"
- 125A Production Meter - Eaton 011
- If over 125A, Milbank U4518-XL-W
Batteries
AC coupled systems
- require a utility isolation disconnect. Reference the SR-710 file below.
- Utility Meter/MSP -> Utility Isolation Disconnect -> Gateway -> Utility DG Disconnect -> Utility DG Meter -> PV Inverter. Local battery disconnect not needed
- TEP requirements, in addition to the AC Disconnect and PV required post PV, an additional AC disconnect is required post gateway, labeled as "Utility Isolation Disconnect Easton [Enter model number]. (TOP Rejection-Make sure this is followed)
- For Non-Back Up: If this is a PV+Storage system with no back up capability, Please include a note to your drawings to clearly describe that no backup loads panel would be installed for this system.
DC Coupled Systems:
- No information on DC coupled systems
Existing Systems
- Both new and existing systems must be tied together into one Utility DG Meter and one Utility DG Disconnect.
- Split AC-coupled systems are not allowed.
MSA
- Provide the make and model of the Meter Socket Adapter
- Should conform with UL414.
- Note the OCPD size inside the MSA in your design
- Remove the Neutral to Ground bond at the fused disconnect. The N-G is established when the neutral is installed as required by manufactures specifications
- Electric Service Reqs
- RINGLESS meters are not allowed with Unisource/ TEP, per SR-452 (TOP Rejection Make sure this is followed)
- If utilizing a Meter Adapter/ConnectDER for install, the meter has to be ringed meter, or the utility will trigger MPU.
- If the electrical configuration is detached meter and main panel, and the meter is above the MSP the utility will not accept the configuration and trigger an MPU.
- Adding a battery Gateway between a detached meter and MSP is considered an upgrade by the utility and they will trigger an MPU to CSED panel.
- MSP not allowed in an enclosed area.
- An existing MSP is considered "Grandfathered" and does not require relocation if it is in an enclosed area and the structure was built around it.
- If upgrading a "grandfathered" main panel, new panel will not be considered "grandfathered" and new panel will need to conform to above standards.
- If service is overhead, MPU can be any size. If service is underground, use a Like-for-Like panel.
- Install Reqs
- Due to TEP overloaded circuit, most systems in this area require Battery. See map for reference.
- The existing systems require a TDR (power kill).
- When submitting the Notice of installation completion (PTO application) with TEP, the equipment photos must show the SR-702 labeling
- Placards
Required
- Use the appropriate dropdown in CAD blocks for TEP
- Facility map placard on the Utility DG Disconnect (provided the variance request is approved)
- Facility map placard on the Sub-Panel (provided the variance request is approved)
- Facility map placard on the Service Entrance
