Solar Export Value Notes
Reviewed annually each October. Each customer's export rate will be applicable for 10 years from the time of their interconnection.
Net Excess Generation Notes

All kWh exported to the utility grid is paid at the RCP rate, currently $0.0839. Excess credits each month roll over to the next month. Any remaining credits over $10 in October of each year are paid out to the customer. The RCP rate is usually adjusted annually; customers are compensated for up to 10 years at the RCP export rate in place at the time they requested interconnection.

Plans & docs

Site Plan Reqs
  • AC Disconnect and dedicated PV meter to be within 10' of main service panel.
  • UniSource requires an external main breaker, or means of disconnect, for all customer loads. If a customer has an external meter socket only, with an internal load center and main breaker, then an external main breaker will need to be installed as part of the solar project.
  • All plan sets submitted for approval will require an elevation view of the service and required dg equipment. Detail the height of the SES/main panel, DG (PV) meter, and the AC disconnect from the ground, and the distance between the equipment. The maximum height on equipment for Unisource customers in Mohave County is 72" and the minimum is 48" (See Elevation view Example in files section)

EXISTING SYSTEM:

  • Need to remove the existing DG Meter from the design
SLD Reqs

All Jobs

  • A single line diagram must be included in the plan set along with a three-line diagram otherwise the utility will reject it. INV > PM > Disco > POI The type of PM is the Milbank 5929. - EV Charger Inverter is not allowed

For Battery Jobs

  • Utility Isolation Disconnect required between Main Panel and Gateway. See SR-710 for more details on interconnection requirements for AC coupled energy storage systems.
  • Meter adapters including Tesla Backup Switch are not allowed
Install Reqs

UES Design Review and Approval

Prior to installation of customer interconnection facilities, customer shall submit a distributed generation interconnection application to UES review and written approval. Required documentation to be furnished with the application may include an electrical one-line diagram, an electrical three-line diagram, AC and DC control schematics, plant location diagram and site plan.

Technical Requirements

  • See "Electric Service Requirements for Small Interconnected Distributed Generation Sources SR-1.22" in Files section of this page, or click this link to view online <https://www.uesaz.com/doc/renewable/SR-122.pdf)>
  • All systems shall be installed with a horizontal tilt angle between 10 degrees and 60 degrees, and an azimuth angle of +/- 100 degrees of due south.
  • A system must include a dedicated performance meter (on grid-tied systems, supplied by UES) to allow for monitoring of the amount of electricity produced.
  • Photovoltaic modules must be covered by a manufacturer’s warranty of at least 20 years.
  • All photovoltaic modules must be certified by a nationally recognized testing laboratory as meeting the requirements of UL Standard 1703.
  • All other electrical components must be UL listed.
  • The inverter must be certified as meeting the requirements of IEEE-1547 - Recommended Practice for Utility Interface of Photovoltaic Systems - and it must be UL 1741 certified.
  • The utility meter, inverter, and utility disconnect will be installed in a location readily accessible by UES during normal business hours.
  • PV Production meter sets and net meter exchanges will be delayed for any project that has not followed the Installer PowerClerk Process (https://www.uesaz.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/installer_powerclerk_process.pdf).

Site Plan Notes

. If the main service disconnect is currently located inside of the home, a separate external gang operated, lockable, knifeblade disconnect, must be installed outside of the home within the immediate vicinity of the Utility Revenue meter, or the customer will need to upgrade to an all-in-one main service panel installed outside the home.

Compiled from public records, 2026. Tariffs and interconnection rules change; verify with UNSE - UniSource Energy Service before you rely on this. The useful move: if an installer says you need a main panel upgrade, ask how these tap and interconnection policies were considered first.
