Net Excess Generation Notes

The AMI bi-directional net meter has (2) reading displays: received odometer and delivered odometer.

• REC = the “excess” kilowatts received from your RGS system to our utility grid, credited each month. (kWs that are not consumed by your home/business will be generated to the utility grid at given times after your consumption needs are satisfied. This reading can only count up and is instantly bought back at current QF-1 wholesale rates. This credit will be reflected on your next electric bill.)

• DEL = the total provided kilowatts delivered from Clay Electric to your home/business, charged as usage.(This happens when your RGS system cannot produce enough kWs for your consumption needs -e.g., nighttime consumption. This reading can only count up and is instantly charged as consumption from the utility grid at current rate schedules.)

This is an “avoided cost” net billing program. Excess kilowatts do not “bank.” They are instantly bought back when generated to the utility grid at current QF-1 wholesale rates and will reflect as a credit on your next electric bill.

Site Plan Reqs

Site Plan is not required

**Disconnect: **

* Must install and maintain a manual disconnect switch to provide a separation point between the AC power output of the RGS and any Customer facilities connected to the Cooperative's electrical system. The manual disconnect switch shall be mounted separately from the meter socket and shall be readily accessible at all times to the Cooperative and shall be capable of being locked in the open position by the Cooperative.

SLD Reqs

Drawings will need to be detailed “Engineered/CAD/Professional schematic” drawings, showing:

* 1-Line diagram

* Brands of equipment (Specs)

* Quantities of panels

* Inverters

* **“Hand” drawings are not acceptable. **

Electric Service Reqs

**System Sizing:**

The RGS must have a GPR that does not exceed ninety percent (90%) of the Customer's utility distribution service rating at the Customer's location.

If the GPR does exceed that ninety percent (90%) limit, the Customer shall be responsible to pay the cost of upgrades for that distribution service to accommodate the GPR capacity and to ensure the ninety percent (90%) threshold is not breached.

**Taps:**

* UL approved taps allowed, follow NEC requirements and approved by the County Building Department

* **_Although Clay Electric prefers the PV circuits to be installed into a Distribution panel with Overcurrent protection_**

Placards

* NEC & County Building Department Placards required (Please check in the AHJ Database)

* If the PV system’s outside single-throw-lockable disconnect switch is not next to the Utility Meter, then a label explaining the location of PV Disconnect is required at the Utility meter

Compiled from public records, 2026. Tariffs and interconnection rules change; verify with Clay Electric Cooperative, Inc. (FL) before you rely on this. The useful move: if an installer says you need a main panel upgrade, ask how these tap and interconnection policies were considered first.
