Net Excess Generation Notes

If the electricity generated by the Customer and distributed back to Avista during the billing period, or any portion thereof, exceeds the electricity supplied by Avista, then the Customer will be: (a) billed for the appropriate customer service charge as other customers of Avista in the same rate class; and (b) credited for the net excess kilowatt-hours generated during the billing period, with this kilowatt-hour credit appearing on Customer’s bill for the following billing period.

On March, 31st of each calendar year, any remaining unused kilowatt-hour credit accumulated by the Customer during the previous year will be granted to Avista, without any compensation to the Customer.

  • If possible, please install the the lockable AC disco next to the utility meter (within 10 feet).
  • If not possible, please ensure that the placard map is installed in the utility meter to show the location of the AC disconnect. (Please include the proposed Placard Map in the PV Plans)

The Generating Facility will be located on the Customer’s premises and will include all equipment necessary (including permitting) to meet applicable safety, power quality, and interconnection requirements established by the National Electrical Code (NEC, Articles 690 and 705), National Electrical Safety Code(NESC), the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers(IEEE), the  American  National  Standards  Institute  (ANSI), Underwriters Laboratories(UL), and any and all of the Avista’s interconnection standards.
