Net Excess Generation Notes

Once the final interconnection notification form is approved, the customer’s 12-month net metering period begins. The energy your renewable energy generator produces will offset the energy you would normally purchase from Dominion Energy.

If you generate more electricity than is needed for your home or business in a given billing period, the amount will be credited to your account to offset the cost of future electricity you receive from Dominion Energy. The billing period credit is accumulated, carried forward and applied at the first opportunity to any billing periods in which you have positive net consumption. Please note that even if a credit is issued, the customer will still receive a bill each month with basic monthly charges.

Residentials can only go up to 20kw and they can offset a 100% of the electricity generation. I will review that last 12 months of the customers usage to determine approval. I will let you know if there are any issues.

1. If required, a Non-Utility Meter Socket may be installed between the PV Modules and the Co-Gen Meter Socket. 2. The PV Disconnect shall be load break rated and shall provide a visible air gap and be lockable in the off position. Locate immediately adjacent to the service meter. It must be accessible to the power company personnel 24/7. 3. Specify the point of common Coupling for the solar and existing house wiring. Check box if Main Service Panel is located indoors.

Compiled from public records, 2026. Tariffs and interconnection rules change; verify with Dominion Energy (NC) before you rely on this. The useful move: if an installer says you need a main panel upgrade, ask how these tap and interconnection policies were considered first.
