Net Excess Generation Notes

The nameplate rating of the Renewable Generation must be the lesser of: (1) the consumer’s estimated maximum 15-minute integrated demand, (2) the consumer’s Contract Demand, or (3) 500 kW

In order for consumers to receive credit from the Cooperative for any excess energy that flows back on to the Cooperative’s system from the consumer’s generator, the consumer shall have their Renewable Generator registered with the North Carolina Utilities Commission using NCRETS.

Consumers selecting this Rider will be billed for energy supplied by the Cooperative at the applicable retail rate assigned to the account. Energy generated may be used to offset the need for purchased power. All excess generation will be credited to the account at the energy credit rate listed herein

Energy Credits: 3.55 ¢ per kWh

The Cooperative will furnish, install, own, and maintain metering to measure the kilowatt-hours delivered by the Cooperative to the consumer, and if applicable, the kilowatt demand. The Cooperative will also furnish, install, own, and maintain additional metering equipment to measure the kilowatt-hours delivered from the consumer to the Cooperative. The consumer’s service may be metered with: (a) a single, bi-directional meter, which records independently the flow of electricity in each direction through the meter; or (b) at the Cooperative’s option, two meters, equipped to prevent reverse registration, one which will measure the energy delivered by the Cooperative to the consumer, and the other which will measure the energy delivered by the consumer to the Cooperative. The Cooperative shall have the right to install special metering and load research devices on the consumer’s equipment and the right to use the consumer’s telephone line for communication with the Cooperative’s and the consumer’s equipment.

SLD Reqs

AC Disconnect needs to be 5' of the meter base. All components of the system drawn in a format that clearly shows where they “sit” in the circuit. This includes panels, inverters, batteries (if applicable), supplemental generation (if applicable), home circuit panel, visible disconnect switches, and the meter base.

Install Reqs

Member shall install a manual load-break disconnect switch with a clear visible indication of switch position between Company's electric system and Member's Generator. It is preferred the Isolation Device be within five feet (5’) of the meter base; otherwise there shall be signage clearly referencing location of the Isolation Device.

Placards

Member will install a permanent warning label in a conspicuous place in close proximity to the electric meter or on the meter base to notify Company personnel that there is a generator installed on the load side of the meter. The warning label shall not be placed in a location that would interfere with the ability of Company personnel to read the electric meter. Member shall also place a warning label on the Isolation Device. The warning labels must be in place before the Generator can be interconnected with Company's system.

Compiled from public records, 2026. Tariffs and interconnection rules change; verify with Wake EMC before you rely on this. The useful move: if an installer says you need a main panel upgrade, ask how these tap and interconnection policies were considered first.
