Solar Export Value Notes
Oncor offers no credit for excess solar generation exported to the grid. Customers must sign up with a third party supplier who offers a buyback credit.
Net Excess Generation Notes
  • For customers who utilize Oncor as their energy supplier, Oncor does not offer a solar buyback program (i,e. net metering or an export rate) and thereby does not give any credit for excess solar generation exported to the grid.
  • It is the customer's responsibility to sign up with a retail energy provider who offers a buyback program. Customers are strongly encouraged to maximize the value of their solar system by doing this.

Site Plan Reqs

All Jobs

  • ESID REQUIRED ON ALL PROJECTSESID LOOKUP
  • METER NUMBER REQUIRED ON ALL PROJECTS
  • Quantity, model number, and manufacturer name should be listed on site plan
  • Call out all equipment WITH A LEADER on the site plan. Legend will NOT suffice
  • Include complete equipment details including 240V or 208V [Example: Manufacturer (Name) Model (Number) (240V/208V)]
  • Oncor requires that the MSP has a main breaker or an MBE no hot / split-busses

Existing System

  • On the site plan the existing modules need to be shown individually, not per array.
SLD Reqs

All Jobs

  • Each Diagram must be a single page, completely flattened, non-editable, PDF, less than 2MB.
  • Include complete equipment details including 240V or 208V [Example: Manufacturer (Name) Model (Number) (240V/208V)]

Existing System

  • Existing systems must be present on TLD and include quantity, make, model, and manufacturer of all existing equipment
  • Existing AC disconnect must be labeled as Visible, Lockable, Labeled, Disconnect

Placards
  • Oncor requires caution or warning placards on all distributed generation (DG) projects; placards must also meet NEC requirements
  • Placard examples are available in the files section
  • If the AC disconnect is within 10 feet of the Oncor meter, use this placard text: “CAUTION - Alternate Power Supply AC System Disconnect”
  • If the AC disconnect is more than 10 feet from the Oncor meter, use this placard text: “CAUTION - Power to this service is also supplied from on-site solar generation. Disconnect located on indicate location of this structure”
  • When the AC disconnect is more than 10 feet from the meter, placards must be installed at the Oncor meter location and at the AC disconnect location

Compiled from public records, 2026. Tariffs and interconnection rules change; verify with Oncor before you rely on this. The useful move: if an installer says you need a main panel upgrade, ask how these tap and interconnection policies were considered first.
